John and I got out yesterday afternoon with no real destination in mind. We stopped at the Wonderbread outlet, the Russian candy store, and finally ended up at the Parkland Putters Miniature Golf. Parkland Putters has been providing fun and games in the area since 1977. I haven't seen a decent miniature golf course here, and thought it would be fun to go play even though it was raining out.
Apparently, others didn't let the rain deter them either, as there were many other golfers on the greens. John and I selected the course that we wanted to play. We made our way through the first five or six holes when a bright purple ball comes flying through the air. I watched the ball land in a little rocky out crop in front of me. I went over, picked it up, and look toward where it came from. I saw a man standing with his little boy laughing at the wildly hit ball. I started to walk over to the man to hand him the ball when he told me to just throw the ball. At first, I thought better of throwing the ball, but went a head and let the ball go. I watched as the ball sailed through the sky on an unintended trajectory. As I watched I thought it might hit the little boy, but then I saw the ball falling to the ground. In that short amount of time I prayed that the ball would hit the grass instead of the sidewalk. Of course, it hit the sidewalk and hit the little boy square on the nose.
He wasn't fazed until he saw my face, and I started to walk over. His dad hugged him, as he started to cry. I apologized many times. The dad said it wasn't my fault, while laughing. I could hear john laughing from behind me. I felt really bad... The instant replays that John has been providing have cast a humorous light on the whole situation, but I felt really bad there. Perhaps, the story isn't as funny as I thought....
I have those shoes!
