Ronald Reagan is dead at the age of 93. I am barely old enough to remember when Reagan took over from Carter. I know now that he was not the best President, and did many bad things in the name of our country. However, I look at Ronald Reagan with the eyes of a child. He was the President of my cognitive childhood.

He is the only President that I took the time to write, while doing what all white middle class families do, driving to Disneyland. In return for my seven year old chicken scratch letter I received an autographed headshot of the President. To a kid where receiving mail is the ultimate joy, this was like butter in the rice krispy treats. Everyone knows you can't make good rice krispy treats with out the butter.

Here I am today, feeling the aches and pains of growing older, still looking at the mail for some joy, and finding myself feeling a bit sad. I'm not sad that Reagan is dead. He was fucking 93. It was time for him to go, as we all die. Right? I'm sad for the world, and where our leaders have taken our country.

When, I heard they were going to lay Ronald Raygun in state. I pictured an open coffin just like the Russians did to Lenin. I acutally wanted to fly to Washington to see Ronald Reagan. I presented this idea to my boyfriend, who couldn't understand my desire to fly all the way to Washington,DC just to see a "dead Ronald Reagan." I was completely serious in this desire, but it has waned upon my learning of the closed casket viewing.

Instead, of flying to Washington I'll remember Ronald Reagan with a childlike fondness, and bitch like hell at his political descendant.

the only thing the news can cover is reagan. i mean, not even mother teresa's demise got this much coverage back in 97.

there is no decency in the left wing, imagine when your beloved gods of the left castro, carter or clinton die, you will want 3 week long memorial and anyone who has anything bad to say about clinton you will be calling for death, leftists are nothing more than hypocrites
