7-11 blue

I'm a bit evil sometimes. I know that people steal images on the internet all the time. There really is no way of preventing that from happening. However, there is a way to fight back if they are direct linking to your image and stealing your bandwidth. I usually don't do anything about it... maybe send a short note or soemthing. Well, today was not one of those days.

Some poor little girl on neopets.com was stealing bandwidth from John. I goaded him a bit until he change the picture. Now, this girls website looks something like this. (** Warning -- Large image not safe for work or prude viewing.**)

I know it's bad, but I can't stop laughing.

I like to tell people they're flaming asshats when they do that, but... that hasn't happened to me in a while.

OOOh man, NICE ONE! :)

Heh. Many times I've considered doing that, but never actually went through with it. I just feed them (automatically, if the referer isn't one of my own pages) a file with a copyright notice in it.

Ho-larious!

I've done that on coryking.com. Some dude kept linking to the deer picture on http://www.coryking.com/rug_guy.html.

Went from this: http://www.coryking.com/images/deer.jpg (NSFW!)

did it again

went to this:
http://www.coryking.com/images/deer2.jpg (NSFW!!!!)

to this:
http://www.coryking.com/images/deer3.jpg (SFW!)

Inmature? Maybe. But these people knew what they were doing was really, really lame. What the best part was is they used them in their crappy PHPBB chatboard thingys with like 50 other pictures (kind of like fark photoshops). Pics of cars... pics of girls... OH NO... GAPING ANUS!!... pics of cars... pics of girls.... etc...

I'm a bit more tasteful on photogrpahica image leechers... but my personal site is mine.

I'll remember to stay on your good side. *hehehe* Too funny. The initial gasp was followed by a snorting laugh through my nose.

I generally use a simple and small text image: "I Stole This Image and I Got Caught", but only there's no response to a firm but gentle e-mail letting them know why what they did is bad etiquette.

If that doesn't do the trick and I feel particularly evil, I write to the hosting service of the site with a formal copyright infringement complaint. You'd be amazed how rapid a response you get to an e-mail with the correct legalese jargon. I save that for the absolute worst offenders, because usually either the pictures or the entire account are gone within 48 hours.

LOL! I usually just change the filename, but public humiliation is so much more satisfying.

That's HILARIOUS! I'm sure the person learned a valuable lesson.

I use a very graphic image of a shotgun suicide with "This is what happens to people who steal bandwidth, Have a nice day!" written on it. It's really gross, but I've found that using nudie pictures don't work anymore.
