L&L Hawaiian Barbecue opened up a second location in Washington State last Friday. I’ve already been there four times in the last week. I’m watching what I eat, but it would be so easy to gain lots of weight. This location is much smaller than some of the other locations that I’ve been to. Seating is at a premium at this location. I hate to see what happens when the word really gets out. There are two other locations in the works, which may help reduce the crowds at this location.

This location offers the usual L&L menu. On the recent visits I have tried the Katsu Musubi, BBQ Chicken Musubi, Portuguese Sausage Musubi, and Loco Moco. All dishes were delicious. However, I loooove their loco moco. The gravy, the egg, the patty, mixed in the mac salad and rice, and my belly is happy. I’m usually end up sharing a mini, but on Saturday I ate the whole thing. It was ono.

I forgot to take a picture before we started eating our Friday visit. We were very hungry, and started chowing down.

This is the sound of settling - February 20, 2006

The weather has been very cold lately. It was evening snowing in Tacoma this morning. Nothing to stick, but enough to make John think the birds were crapping on him. With the weather being cold the dry air has caused my nose to dry up too.

Today, we decided to travel to IKEA, and on the way I was sitting in the car listening to music, and trying to get my nose to stop hurting. This consisted of me sticking my finger in my nose and applying pressure.¬† Out of the corner of my eye I saw a red truck fall back behind us, then pull up again. I look over and see an Asian couple giving me a thumbs up. Apparently, they are excited by my “got musubi?” sticker on the back of the car.¬† I give them a shaka and wave. They wave and smile again.

John started laughing. He said that they pulled up at least 4 times. All I could think of was me holding my finger in my nose as these people looking into the car at me. Now, I wonder was it the sticker or the site of me picking my nose that made them laugh and smile.

We tried going to L&L yesterday, but they weren’t opening until 4:00pm. We were there around noon. John has gone to help put in a hot water heater for his brothers birthday. It will be a surprise for his brother who has been without a hot water heater for over a year. We may trying going back over to L&L later today.

Hawai’i in the Pacific Northwest - February 15, 2006

I’ve started a list of establishments that bring a bit of Hawai’i to the Pacific Northwest. The Guide to Hawai’i In the Northwest is just getting started. There are a few places that I haven’t listed because I don’t know their addresses. If you know of any Aloha Stores, Hawaiian Style Restaurants, Halau Hula, Radio Station, or Cultural Organizations that should be on the list feel free to share them.

L&L Hawaiian Barbeque Update - February 14, 2006

I’ve heard that L&L in Renton will be open on Friday. I checked in today, and they were almost ready to go. It will be good to have one closer than Lynnwood. This one is about half the size as the Lynnwood location, but proves to be just as ono. I’ll take pictures on Friday. I found out that this location is owned by the former Lynnwood owner. She’s is planning on opening one in Federal Way, which should be under construction, followed by one in Lakewood. I will be very happy to good plate lunches close to home.
